Sexual health visits (referred to by some as premarital exams) should be scheduled by individuals who are considering becoming sexually active, or who have questions or concerns about sexual, gender-related and reproductive health. This visit can include a discussion regarding the importance of vaccination for prevention of infection with the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), STI screenings, birth control or contraception options, UTIs, general health needs, and healthy sexual practices.

Meeting with your gynecologist for the first time may be a bit overwhelming, here is what you should expect from the appointment:

  • Review of medical history
  • Discussion of birth control options
  • Head to toe exam
