As one of the best pediatric brain and spine centers in the nation, we focus on family-centered care for children with neurological and spine related disorders. Our multidisciplinary team approach brings together more than 270 pediatric specialists, including board-certified pediatric neurologists and neurosurgeons, epileptologists, neonatologists, physiatrists, neuropsychologists, and more.

What Sets Us Apart

Collaborative, patient-centered care

Neurological conditions can be very complex, so it’s critical to have a sub-specialty care team that includes nurse practitioners, nurse coordinators, counselors, geneticists, social workers, nutritionists, physical therapists, and pharmacists who understand the complexities of these conditions. We work together with specialists from multiple departments to ensure that each child receives the best possible care.

Access

We offer care in our state-of-the-art clinics located at the Primary Children’s Hospital main building and at the Eccles Outpatient Services building, which is connected by a sky bridge to the hospital. Services are also offered at satellite locations in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana.

Experienced Pediatric Providers

All our providers are board certified/eligible and fellowship trained in pediatric specialties. Every year, they treat over 11,000 unique patients, perform over 500 neurosurgeries and 300 spine surgeries, and complete and analyze over 3,300 EEGs.

Innovative Care and Latest Research

We are committed to providing the most innovative care using state-of-the-art technology and the latest research. For epilepsy and tumor patients, we use diagnostic and surgical technology that combines navigated trans-magnetic brain mapping, robotics, and laser ablation to reduce invasive surgery and shorten hospital stays. Our team founded the Children’s Spine Study Group and co-founded Hydrocephalus Clinical Research Network. We currently run more than 185 IRB approved clinical studies, including a gene therapy trial for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).

National Ranking and Accreditation

Our program is nationally ranked in the top 20 for Neurology and Neurosurgery by U.S. News & World Report. We are accredited as a Level IV Epilepsy Center (highest level). Our inpatient rehabilitation program uses Universal Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSMR) and is accredited by Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
