Primary Children's CEO Katy Welkie is the first winner of the LOVE Legacy Award

The inaugural winner of the prestigious L.O.V.E. Legacy Award award was Katy Welkie, RN, vice president of Children’s Health and CEO of Primary Children's Hospital.

“You can’t think about Children’s Health at Intermountain without thinking about Katy Welkie,” said Rob Allen, president and CEO. “With a career that spans over 40 years at Intermountain, from a bedside nurse to the influential role she’s in now, Katy has made the positive impact on our patients, communities, and caregivers that we all aspire to leave.”

This lifetime achievement award recognizes an Intermountain leader whose outstanding contributions have left an indelible mark on Intermountain Health. Welkie is the first person selected for this award by the Intermountain Health Executive Leadership Team. Awardees must model Intermountain values, demonstrate leadership, serve the community, influence the healthcare industry, and advance the Intermountain mission of helping people live the healthiest lives possible.

We’re looking forward to the next L.O.V.E. Awards Ceremony in 2025, where we will celebrate our first Values Award winners, in addition to Performance and Legacy Award winners,” said Heather Brace, chief people officer. “Please take an opportunity to nominate a fellow caregiver for a L.O.V.E.
