What's Going Around Utah

Disease activity update for Monday, September 26th, 2022

The latest Case Counts of COVID-19 from the Utah Department of Health are available here.

We are experiencing an outbreak of a respiratory virus called Enterovirus D 68. EV-D68 typically causes respiratory illness, which can be mild (like a common cold) or more severe. Anyone with respiratory illness should contact their doctor if they are having difficulty breathing or if their symptoms are getting worse. Our routine testing for respiratory germs does not specifically test for EV-D68, but patients with the virus may test positive for "Rhinovirus". More information about EV-D68 is available from the CDC. Fortunately, the activity of rhinovirus is dropping off.

We are closely watching RSV and Influenza since we have seen a steady trickle of cases of those coming in as well.
