New APP leaders announced for mid-August

Cynthia Papadopoulos, MPAS, PA-C: APP director, Internal Medicine
Cynthia has been a physician assistant for more than 20 years and currently works at Cottonwood Medical Clinic Internal Medicine. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University and a Bachelor’s in PA studies from Des Moines University. She earned her Master’s degree in physical medicine with an education emphasis from AT Still University. She is a precept to PA students and teaches classes as a guest lecturer at the Rocky Mountain University physician assistant program

Sheralee Petersen, MPAS, PA-C: APP director, Cardiovascular Clinical Program
Sheralee has worked in cardiology since graduating from the University of Utah PA Program in 2006. She works with the Intermountain Heart Institute Cardiology team at the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray. Sheralee is also a certified hypertension clinician through the American Society of Hypertension and works in the High Blood Pressure Specialty Clinic at Intermountain where she enjoys treating resistant hypertension cases. 

Lara Cooley Portmann, APRN: APP director, Neurosciences
Lara has worked in various healthcare roles for more than 30 years. In this new role, she will work with APPs across Intermountain in neurology, neurosurgery and spine. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from University of Washington in Seattle, and her BSN and MSN from the University of Utah School of Nursing. Lara’s nursing career started at LDS Hospital as an ICU nurse. Later, as a nurse practitioner, she helped found an APP team supporting neurosurgical trauma.

Eric Bowles, NP: APP director, Pediatric Intensive Care
Eric started his career at Primary Children’s Hospital as a certified nursing assistant on the infant unit. He earned his LPN, RN and Bachelor’s degree from Weber State University, and an MSN from the University of Utah School of Nursing. Eric has worked at Primary Children’s for the past 16 years as a nurse practitioner in pediatric and cardiac intensive care.

David Brock, MS, PA-C: APP director, Pediatric Cardiovascular Services
Dave graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in business management and an emphasis in public and not-for-profit sectors. He then earned his Master’s degree as a physician assistant from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pennsylvania. Following graduate school, he worked as a PA in a general surgery practice for four years before moving in 2010 to his current position in pediatric cardiothoracic surgery at Primary Children’s Hospital. 

Elijah Fielding, PA-C, MPH: APP director, Primary Care Pediatrics
Elijah currently provides pediatric care at Redrock Pediatrics in St. George, and previously worked in family medicine at Southwest Utah Community Health Center. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in general biology from Dixie State University and is a 2016 graduate of the joint PA/MPH Program at Touro University California.
