New APP directors announced for September

We’re pleased to share the next set of APP directors who are already filling their new roles:

Tom Baker, PA-C: APP Director, Urgent Care
Tom has been a practicing physician assistant for 14 years. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Weber State University, and a master’s degree from Alderson Broaddus University College of Medical Science, School of Physician Assistant Studies in Philippi, West Virginia. He began his Intermountain career at Sanpete Valley Hospital in the emergency department and currently works at urgent care facilities in Salt Lake City and Ogden.

Kelleen Brown, APRN, ACHPN, OCN: APP Director, Palliative Care
Kelleen began her career with Intermountain Utah Valley Hospital as a registered nurse/charge nurse. She has more than 30 years’ experience in oncology nursing, including leadership experience on the system level. She earned a BSN degree from Weber State University, and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Utah College of Nursing in 2009. For the past seven years she has focused on developing Utah Valley Hospital’s Palliative Care program.

Sean Collins, FNP: APP Director, Occupational Medicine Services
Sean has 18 years of experience in occupational medicine and urgent care. He graduated from the University of Utah in 2001 with a Master of Science in Nursing and a specialty in occupational medicine. Sean currently works at South Jordan WorkMed and spends one day a week with the Intermountain HealthyMe Clinic providing primary care to Salt Lake County employees. 

Mary Harris, MSN, FNP-BC: APP Director for Professional Development & Education
Mary has been an NP with Intermountain Healthcare since 2000 after she graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Her experience includes emergency medicine, trauma critical care, and urology. Her administrative experience includes developing and directing the Trauma Critical Care APP Postgraduate Fellowship, and working with APP leaders to create and produce KickStart: APP to APP Orientation day. 

Amy Hinckley, MS, FNP-C: APP Director, Post-Acute Care Team (PACT)
Amy has worked in nursing for 18 years, the past two years as an FNP. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Weber State University and her Master of Science in Nursing and a post-master's education certificate from the George Washington University School of Nursing in Washington, DC. Amy joined Intermountain in July 2018 and has played an active role in the development of the Post-Acute Care program. 

Melissa Parra, DNP, APRN, ACNP-BC:  APP Director, Oncology Services 
Melissa has worked in nursing for 23 years. She completed her bachelor’s degree through BYU-Idaho and received her Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree from the University of Utah College of Nursing. She began her nursing career at Primary Children’s Hospital in the Neuro-Trauma Unit and then moved into correctional nursing at the Salt Lake County Jail. Melissa joined the Intermountain Blood and Marrow Transplant/Acute Leukemia program as an acute care nurse practitioner six years ago, and for the last three years has served as lead APP.
