I just want to say thank you on this doctor’s day. This day began in 1933. It began in Georgia. When a local community said, hey this is going to be a day that we recognize the contributions physicians make to the community. And, when you think about 2020, It’s a year where those contributions are front and center.

I can’t say enough about how each of you has played such an important role in our response to the pandemic—the way we’ve taken care of each other and where you’ve cared for patients. You’ve kept patients safe. We kept each other safe. Hippocrates said, “where there’s a love for medicine, there is a love for humanity.”

This past year is a shining example of that. We came together and took on all sorts of new things—the pandemic, equity, the disparities in healthcare. We did this humbly, learning together, working together, asking hard questions together and then solving for them. These are real and meaningful contributions, and something I hope you all are very proud of. Thank you!
