Intermountain's 2018 "LiVe Well Heroes," — including six leaders, eight champions, one family, one team, and 15 individual caregivers from across Intermountain the system — were recognized recently at the fifth annual LiVe Well Heroes luncheon. The heroes were chosen from more than 300 caregiver nominations — the highest number yet.

Lifetime Achievement

Terri Flint was surprised to receive the new LiVe Well Lifetime Achievement Award at the LiVe Well Heroes luncheon. “Terri has been the heart and soul of our caregiver LiVe Well program since its beginning,” says Trevor Smith, health promotion and wellness executive director, who presented the award. “Her efforts have helped change the culture of our entire organization and have impacted lives of thousands of caregivers and their families.”

  • They lost a combined total of well over 2,250 pounds
  • 18 of the nominees lost more than 50 pounds Many nominees no longer need to be on medication and are no longer pre-diabetic
  • Many improved their happiness by managing stress and using mindfulness techniques
  • Some improved their financial health

This year's heroes demonstrated all of the dimensions of LiVe Well: LiVe Healthy, LiVe Happy, LiVe Secure, LiVe Connected, and LiVe Engaged. One caregiver went on 52 hikes in the year — one per week. Many are role models for their patients and colleagues.

"It was incredibly inspiring to read through the nominations, and it was very difficult to narrow down the list to select our heroes," says Terri Flint, PhD, LCSW, Intermountain's director of caregiver wellness. "It was great to bring them all together and celebrate their efforts. We know they're not 'done' since we never really cross the finish line for wellness — but we love hearing how they're progressing and their advice for the rest of us."
