Generally, confidential information shouldn’t leave Intermountain facilities. If transporting information is necessary, please follow the Transporting Sensitive Critical Information Procedure.

Here are a few important ways you can keep data safe:

  • Whenever possible, convert paper documents into an encrypted electronic format with password protection.
  • Use encrypted mobile media such as a thumb drive and send password or encryption keys separate from the media.
  • Place information out of view (in a briefcase, backpack, or the trunk of a car) so the information isn’t visible during transport.
