Mikelle Moore

Congratulations to Mikelle Moore, senior vice president and chief community health officer, who’s been named to Modern Healthcare’s Top 25 Women Leaders for 2021. The program recognizes women developing policy, leading change, and guiding healthcare delivery improvement across the country. Mikelle’s accomplishments in the past year include her work with Utah’s COVID-19 task force to coordinate with all levels of healthcare, government, and community leaders. She also played in a key role in the community-based ProjectProtect mask-making initiative, which rallied 50,000 volunteers to help make masks and other personal protective equipment for frontline caregivers.

More recently, Mikelle’s focus has been on disparities in health, which were heightened during the pandemic. “We believe that equity is integral to helping people live their healthiest lives possible,” Mikelle says. “As we strive to create workplaces that embrace diversity and inclusion, we build the foundation for our female colleagues in the future and health for all.”

Aurora Aguilar, Modern Healthcare editor, says the 2021 honorees are developing policy, leading change, and guiding healthcare delivery improvement across the country. “They serve as mentors and create workplaces that embrace diversity and inclusion,” she says. “And last year, they did this all while guiding their organizations through a global pandemic.”

Kelly SB

Kelly Jensen

Congratulations to Kelly Jensen, respiratory care manager at Intermountain Medical Center, who was named the 2020 Respiratory Care Service’s Manager of the Year. Last year while the pandemic was in full swing, Kelly managed three hospital departments all while maintaining highly engaged caregivers, according to the Press Ganey caregiver engagement survey results. In addition, Kelly led his team in assisting with an Intermountain Medical Research Foundation-funded study to monitor high-risk opioid patients at home. He also willingly absorbed respiratory therapy interns for the study, many of whom reported applying and accepting jobs solely to work with Kelly as their manager.

Kelly’s colleagues describe him as a “calm, cool-headed leader” who’s adept at “leading by example” and “who never asks anyone to do what he himself isn’t willing to do.”
