The Emotional Health Relief Hotline is transitioning

Here's what you need to know

The Emotional Health Relief Hotline is transitioning to a one-call navigation system to access Behavioral Health services starting Thursday, April 1.

The Emotional Health Relief Hotline was established in April 2020 to help meet psychological needs—distress, anxiety, depression and isolation—intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic for community members, patients, and caregivers. It has since served more than 5,000 callers.

“I was assigned to support the hotline at the beginning of the pandemic,” says Victoria Holmes, community health specialist. “Caregivers from all over the organization were redeployed to help ‘man the lines.’ Many didn’t have any mental health background but have thrived as hotline caregivers. We’ve grown into a supportive, cohesive team.”

Callers will now have broad access to Behavioral Health treatment through a single phone number. The phone number will help you start navigating available tools, services, and resources—inside and outside of Intermountain—to support your mental health and wellbeing.

  • The phone number will remain the same: 833-442-2211
  • The hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily

Here’s what you can expect from the new phone line, starting Thursday:

  • A team of caregivers will conduct a small assessment to help you navigate many pathways to appropriate tools and resources for your mental health—either immediate crisis services or long-term options
  • The phone line is available to caregivers, patients, and community members

Other ways to access Intermountain Behavioral Health treatment:

  • Caregivers and their immediate family members can contact the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for free confidential counseling. EAP offers one-on-one appointments, drop-in group CARE sessions, and virtual self-care recordings. To schedule an appointment, call 801-442-3509 or toll free 1-800-832-7733. You can call those same numbers 24/7 to speak to a counselor for urgent situations, too.
  • Connect Care Behavioral Health provides treatment for mild-to-moderate behavioral health conditions. It’s available to everyone. Access a psychiatric nurse practitioner for a $0 co-pay for those insured through an Intermountain health plan. Appointments are available daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and can be scheduled by calling 833-442-2670.
