Review March's progress toward achieving Intermountain's key performance indicators (KPIs)

April KPI BN

Here’s how we’re performing on eleven board-reported key performance indicators (KPIs), which is part of the caregiver incentive plan. Monthly progress on our KPIs reflects the work you and other caregivers do every day to achieve team and department goals. The 2021 Intermountain Monthly Performance dashboard for March illustrates an overall achievement score of 79%.

Some highlights from March’s performance dashboard:

  • Caregiver safety: There continues to be an increase in workplace violence injuries. Please review the recognize and respond guidelines with your team. Visit the Preventing Violence webpage for other tips and resources.
  • Likelihood to recommend: Our patient survey results indicate patient experience is better than last year in many of our care facilities. Our greatest opportunity is in resolving complaints in the moment. Check out the Compassionate Connections website for tools and resources to help you.
  • Membership enrollment: New opportunities for increasing SelectHealth and other aligned insurance memberships have been identified. Remember, every interaction with a patient is a chance to make a positive impression on you as a caregiver and on Intermountain as a preferred healthcare service.

You’re encouraged to review the dashboard with your leader. It’s also available in Spanish. There are resources on the Caregiver Incentive Plan webpage to help you understand the KPI definitions, targets, scoring, and how work is aligned to the system’s overall performance.

The most frequently asked questions about the caregiver incentive plan are about the incentive payment. Here are some answers and more details:

  • When will it be paid? The Caregiver Incentive Plan replaces the annual thank-you payment that was historically paid in November. The first incentive payout based on 2021 board-reported KPI achievement is scheduled for April 2022 after Intermountain Board of Trustees approval.
  • Why can’t it be paid in November? We develop our KPIs to drive improvement throughout the year, and progress is measured monthly. Improvements made each month result in increased monthly achievement scores. During the first quarter of 2022, teams will validate December’s progress and finalize their KPIs to be calculated into the final overall performance score for 2021.
  • How much will it be? The Board of Trustees will approve the final overall performance score, which will determine how much the incentive payout will be. You can review how much money you’d receive if it were to be based on each monthly performance score here.

To be eligible for the payment, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be hired before October 1 of a calendar year
  • Work at least 100 hours by year-end
  • Be employed on the date of the payout in April 2022
