Marc Harrison, MD

Congratulations to CEO Marc Harrison, MD, who’s been named to Forbes’ list of 10 CEOs Transforming Healthcare in America. The recognition focuses on best practices around three integral themes: care accessibility, culture, and partnerships. Forbes says, “These are leaders who have created new value to elevate healthcare and society.” Marc was selected as a leader in comprehensive health and applying a model of keeping people well, supported by “groundbreaking research and a unique operational model.” Intermountain’s systemwide practice of a tiered huddle system has helped to communicate issues and opportunities for improvement. “We hear things and see things in real time. And that makes us quite agile,” says Marc, who refers to our caregivers as “close to 41,000 of the best human beings in the world.” See the full list of CEOs.

Congratulations to Layton Hospital caregivers, Judy Williamson, hospital administrator, and Tawnya Willie, RN, med/surg/ICU nurse manager, who were recognized by Davis County Chamber of Commerce’s Women in Business Committee during a virtual event on May 13. The annual event recognizes women who’ve had an impact in the local economy. Judy was recognized for her idea to have this year’s event focus on celebrating healthcare heroes. She provided a keynote address about what the pandemic experience has looked like within the healthcare industry. Tawnya shared that this past year has been difficult, watching her colleagues struggle with the changes, being stretched, and feeling burned out.

“I believe taking care of your [colleagues] makes such a difference in the workplace,” Tawnya said. “In turn, they’ll take great care of our patients in our community. I enjoy working for my team, so they enjoy coming to work every day.”

“We’ve got miles to go, but I know we can finish strong if we do it together,” Judy said. “Please don’t give up on the race. Not this close to the end. Thank you all, and thank you to our healthcare heroes.”
