Reminder: How we accept in-kind donations at Intermountain

Community members often inquire about giving in-kind donations, like food, toys, blankets, personal protective equipment (PPE) supplies, clothing, etc. Here are some reminders about the proper acceptance of in-kind donations at Intermountain:

  • In-kind donations (also referred to as “community drop-off donations”) should be delivered to volunteer services. Local volunteer leaders are responsible for the acceptance and management of in-kind donations at their local facility.
  • Volunteer services doesn’t accept cash donations. Please direct individuals who wish to make cash donations to the Intermountain Foundation website, to the local Foundation office (if available), to the hospital cashier, or to the hospital administration office.
  • Receiving, storing, and distributing in-kind donations is the responsibility of the facility’s volunteer leader or designee. Per Intermountain’s Philanthropy Policy—and in consideration of safety, compliance, and donor acknowledgement and recognition—in-kind donations shouldn’t be accepted by hospital departments or clinical program areas.
  • In-kind donations of PPE and/or medical products fall outside the community drop-off donations definition and should be referred to the Foundation for consultation with the Supply Chain.
In general, and in consideration of food handling safety and compliance, food donations aren’t accepted.

Each facility has listed on their website the community drop-off donations they accept and most need. If you or the people we serve are looking to support Intermountain, please visit the Intermountain Foundation website, email foundation@imail.org, or call 801-442-3443.
