Self-serve COVID-19 screening and testing now available for frontline Utah and Cassia Regional caregivers

Covid test at home

A new caregiver self-serve COVID-19 screening and test-ordering tool is now available for caregivers working in Utah and at Cassia Regional Hospital in Idaho. Here’s how you can access a COVID-19 test for any reason, including an exposure at home or work, travel needs, or if you’re experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms:

  • Use a self-serve online survey on the Employee Health page to get access to a test, create a connection with the Employee Health team, and—if eligible and while supplies last—have access to both an antigen at-home test and a saliva PCR test. In addition to the on-line tool, you can continue to access the Employee Health Triage line by calling 801-442-7547.
  • If you’re eligible for the combo antigen (rapid self-test) and saliva-PCR test, you’ll be directed to pick-up your test kit from any emergency department or InstaCare location. Here’s the criteria a caregiver must meet for rapid testing:
    • You’re scheduled to work in the next 48 hours, and
    • Your role involves direct patient interaction (clinic, urgent care, hospital, or homecare/hospice), and
    • You have mild symptoms and no fever
  • Once you’ve accessed the online tool, you’ll be instructed to go to the InstaCare and ask the front-desk patient service rep, medical assistant, or emergency department triage nurse for the caregiver testing kit. The saliva kit must be returned to one of the community testing location drop-off boxes. Detailed instructions are included with the kit.

Two benefits of getting your test through Employee Health:

  • Access to antigen testing for qualifying caregivers
  • Expedited return to work instructions provided by Employee Health

Keep in mind, there’s a national shortage of COVID-19 antigen tests. Intermountain now has 1,500 antigen at-home tests on hand. We’ve ordered additional tests but they’re on back-order. We may not be able to offer the rapid antigen test if supplies run out.

What about caregivers working in Nevada or at Saltzer Health? Employee Health and the COVID-19 testing leadership team will continue to work with leaders in Nevada and at Saltzer to improve testing access for caregivers working in those locations. As new workflows are defined, additional information will be shared with caregivers working in those location.
