Help caregivers in need this holiday season by donating to the Caregiver Assistance Fund

As you prepare for the upcoming holiday season, consider making a donation to the Caregiver Assistance Fund in lieu of coworker or team gifts. Any donations made now through December 31 are being matched at 300% by Intermountain, and the money helps fellow caregivers in financial need—like Steph (name changed to protect her privacy).

Steph is an Intermountain caregiver in the Salt Lake Valley. When her husband lost his job in early October, Steph became the sole provider for their family of four.

“Lots of places are hiring right now, so finding a job wasn’t our concern,” Steph says. “There’s always that awkward transition phase of interviewing, getting hired, and then finally getting the first paycheck. I didn’t know how we were going to pay rent for November.”

After a conversation with her manager about her willingness to pick up extra shifts to earn more money, Steph learned about the Caregiver Assistance Fund. The fund was established to help caregivers who are struggling with their daily living expenses due to a financial hardship. Steph filled out the online application and was approved a few days later.

“My husband has a job again and we’re in a great place,” she says. “I’ll always be grateful to Intermountain for having the Caregiver Assistance Fund, and to caregivers who have donated to the fund. Now, I donate $10 per paycheck to the fund, as my little way of giving back, because you never know who may need to use it.”
