NOTE: This process change only applies to caregivers in Utah and at Cassia Regional Hospital. Caregivers at Saltzer Health and in Nevada will continue to follow current processes to get tested.

Intermountain is implementing a temporary change in how you can receive priority testing through Employee Health starting Friday, January 14. The change will expedite caregiver test results and manage our resources appropriately. It will support Intermountain’s recently modified return-to-work guidelines for caregivers with COVID-19.

To receive priority COVID-19 testing:

  • Complete the caregiver COVID-19 self-serve screening. This must be completed before you arrive for testing. You don’t need to contact Employee Health to complete the screening or arrange for testing.
  • Based on your screening results, you’ll receive a confirmation email:
    • If you qualify for priority testing, you’ll receive an “Employee Health Approved” symbol (pictured right) in your confirmation email and additional instructions about locations and hours of service.
    • If you don’t qualify for priority testing based on the COVID-19 self-serve screening, you’ll pick up a saliva test kit at a location near you. You’ll receive your results in one to five days.
  • If you qualified for a priority test, there are two locations that can help you: a nearby InstaCare or a hospital lab at a rural facility (Bear River, Cassia, Sanpete, Delta, Filmore, Sevier, or Garfield). Don’t go to the emergency department.
    • You’ll need to show your badge and the Employee Health symbol from your confirmation email to the caregiver staffing the location.
    • After checking in, you’ll be swabbed. You’ll then stay at the location and wait for your results. Depending on volumes, results may take 15 minutes to an hour.
    • If your initial swab test results are negative, you’ll be swabbed again. These results will be available in the MyHealth+ app or via text message after two hours.

In addition to receiving your test results from MyHealth+ or via text message, you’ll also receive an email from Employee Health with your results.

    • If your test is positive, please stay home and follow the return to work guidelines provided by Employee Health.
    • If your test is negative, you can return to work. Please continue to mask and exercise caution.

If you have any questions about this change, please contact the Employee Health Triage Team at 801-442-7547, option 3. You can also access the COVID-19 self-serve screening and return to work guidelines.
