Three Intermountain hospitals named among nation’s best for nurse-to-patient communication

TOSH - The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital, Cedar City Hospital, and Park City Hospital were three of the five Utah hospitals to receive the highest marks for nurse communication, according to newly published results of the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS). This recognition is based on data collected from July 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021. Three other Intermountain hospitals had patient survey scores related to nurse communication that were at or slightly above the state average of 82%. Here are the six hospitals and their scores:

  • Alta View Hospital: 82%
  • Cedar City Hospital: 86%
  • Logan Regional Hospital: 83%
  • Park City Hospital: 87%
  • St. George Regional Hospital: 83%
  • TOSH: 84%

As part of the HCAHPS patient survey, patients comment on their perception of care, including questions like: Did nurses treat patients with courtesy and respect? Did nurses carefully listened to patients? and did nurses explain things in a way that was easy to understand?
