Spring has sprung and its time to clean

It’s that time of year for our annual “File Clean-up Day” on April 8

File cleanup sized for Caregiver News

Clean up any unneeded paper and electronic documents on Friday, April 8, as recommended in Intermountain’s record retention guidelines. Even if you’re working from home, you can still participate. Here’s how:

  • Please clean out unneeded paper and electronic documents. Examine your computer and backup devices and delete as many electronic documents, charts, and reports as you can.
    • Intermountain’s Record Management Policy includes timelines for discarding unnecessary records. Please take a few moments to review this policy. Please also review the “Secondary Materials” at the bottom of the policy. The policy applies to all records, including those in electronic, digital, paper, and other formats. Follow proper disposal methods for records containing Protected Health Information (PHI) or other confidential or proprietary information.
  • Don’t destroy records involved in an audit, investigation, or litigation.
  • Managers are asked to give caregivers time to follow up.
  • If you can’t clean up your paper and digital files on April 8, do it during the week of April 4 to 8.

Please call your local Intermountain Legal representative if you have a question about Intermountain’s Record Management Policy. Thank you for your help with this important matter.
