Mindfulness in Medicine is a free four-hour course offered to all caregivers.

Intermountain’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is once again offering Mindfulness in Medicine—a free four-hour virtual course for all caregivers. The course is based on the Mindful Practice programs created by the University of Rochester Medical School to help advance the quality of healthcare, improve relationships with patients and colleagues, and enhance self-awareness, wellness, and resilience of health professionals.

The first Mindfulness in Medicine course will be Wednesday, April 20, from 8 a.m. to noon MT. Click here to register. In the course, which is taught by Marc Potter, EAP counselor and coordinator for mindfulness-based programming, and David Sandweiss, MD, you’ll learn:

  • How to address and prevent caregiver burnout.
  • Easy-to-do mindfulness exercises and how to meditate.
  • How to increase compassion and self-compassion.
  • How to heal some of the hurt encountered at work.
  • How to integrate mindfulness and compassion in all we do at Intermountain.

“Dr. Sandweiss and I are delighted to be offering Mindfulness in Medicine once again,” Marc says. “We have had hundreds of caregivers take the course in the past—many saying they’d recommend it to others. It’s full of learning and fun in a safe environment. We can’t wait to expand our mindfulness practices to more caregivers throughout the year.”

Mindfulness in Medicine courses are being offered throughout the year and registration for upcoming dates is happening now. Learn more about the course and sign up for a date.
