New patient education tool coming soon; here's how to get your content included

New Patient Ed Tool SC

Emmi Educate, Intermountain’s new patient education tool, will be fully implemented this fall. The tool will allow caregivers to develop robust learning experiences for patients and families using digital tools and secure communications through MyHealth+.

Most content in the Emmi Educate database is developed by the experts at UpToDate, Lippincott, and Lexicomp. To cover knowledge gaps, we’ll also include select Intermountain-developed materials as well as licensed and/or free content from approved professional associations and organizations.

To ensure we’re providing the best possible experience for our patients while maintaining quality and safety standards, all Intermountain-developed or licensed content must fall within the triennial review period (2019) and include all relevant metadata to be loaded into the database. Materials that don’t meet these standards by November 18 won’t be loaded into the database this year. This timeline will allow the Patient Education and technology teams to focus on completing their integration tasks by the end of the year.

To facilitate the review process, the Patient Education team has provided service lines with lists of their content and the Emmi equivalent, if available. A good faith attempt has been made to locate owners of all content currently managed by the Patient Education team. Content that doesn’t have recorded ownership won’t be included in the Emmi database.
