Brad Holje and Jesica Velasquez from Central Processing at LDS Hospital explain their career to kids from Youth Works

Intermountain’s Youth Outreach Department recently organized an interactive presentation hosted by EKG services and Central Processing at LDS Hospital. Attendees included kids from Youth Works, a community program assisting youth ages 14-18 in pre-employment training and life skills development. Caregivers who volunteered to make the program a success included Dixon Atkinson, Alicia Whidden, Jesica Velasquez, and Brad Holje.

The Youth Outreach team works to inspire young people’s interest in pursuing healthcare careers, especially young people who have diverse backgrounds. The team partners with local schools and youth groups to give presentations for students about healthcare careers. More than 100 volunteers from more than 20 departments across Intermountain volunteered to help give presentations last year.

If you’re interested in speaking to students about your career, please sign up using this form. A broad range of caregivers are needed, including physicians, nurses, social workers, dietitians, and people working in finance, administration, and more. The Youth Outreach team can help you prepare. Send questions to Elisabeth Orozco at elisabeth.orozco@imail.org.
