Good Samaritan also received seven Magnet Exemplar accolades. Exemplars are areas in which the hospital outperforms most other organizations across the nation. With the Magnet designation, Good Samaritan Medical Center joins the 13 other Magnet-designated hospitals in Colorado (out of 114 hospitals) and the global Magnet community—a select group including just 9% of domestic healthcare organizations out of more than 6,200 hospitals in the U.S.

Research shows Magnet-recognized organizations consistently deliver a higher quality of nursing care resulting in better patient outcomes and higher patient satisfaction results. This is achieved through the intentional development of an empowered, healthy nursing work environment. Magnet organizations benefit from their strong professional nursing cultures which demonstrate high nursing engagement.

The evaluation process for the hospital was both rigorous and thorough for all involved—from bedside nurse clinicians to department heads, council members, those on the executive team, and members of the board of directors.

“I stand in complete awe of our Good Samaritan nurses and caregivers for their outstanding dedication to our patients,” says Dawn Anuszkiewicz, Good Samaritan president. “Seven exemplars related to the quality of care is an incredible accomplishment, especially in the midst of a global pandemic.  Caregivers across the hospital held steadfast in their commitment to creating the highest quality of professionalism within nursing services, to each other and, more importantly, to our patients.”
