Attend QPR training this month to learn ways to prevent suicide

Intermountain’s Caregiver Resource Groups have partnered with Community Health to host Question, Persuade, and Response (QPR) trainings for members and other caregivers this month, in recognition of Suicide Prevention Month. These trainings provide practical and proven suicide prevention methods to save lives and reduce suicidal intent—helping attendees make a positive difference in the life of someone they know.

“Together, we can do our part to help those around us who are in crisis and provide a caring voice to uplift them,” says Liz O’Gara, health promotion and wellness manager at SelectHealth and co-chair of the Empowered Women Caregiver Resource Group.

The training dates:

  • Tuesday, September 20, at noon MT
  • Wednesday, September 21, at 5:30 p.m. MT
  • Tuesday, September 27, at 7 a.m. MT

To sign up for a training, search “QPR Training” in the Workday search bar and click on an available date. More dates may be added depending on interest.

“Needing help doesn’t make you a bad employee,” says Stephanie Stokes, senior strategic research consultant and co-chair of the Empowered Women’s Caregiver Resource Group. “Needing help doesn’t make you a bad parent. Needing help doesn’t make you a bad friend, sibling, spouse, or any other hat you may wear. Needing help does mean you remembered you’re human, and humans have hard moments. Needing help means you care about all those people in your life and want to be there for them. Please don’t hesitate to get the help you need.”

Intermountain’s Caregiver Resource Groups are advisory groups designed to unite caregivers with a common cause or shared life experience and promote diversity and equity within our workplace and our greater community. There are now eight CRGs: Disability, Empowered Women, Interfaith, LGBTQ+, Military, Multicultural, Women in Analytics, and Women in Medicine. These advisory groups work together.
