Alyssa’s top tip for improving your nutrition is to try adding more color to your dinner plate.

“When putting together meals, or building your plate, aim for more colors,” she says. “For example, switch your green cabbage with purple cabbage, try sweet potatoes instead of white potatoes, or swap out green peppers for yellow peppers. Adding new colors to your meals helps provide vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber — all benefits to optimizing your overall health. During your next grocery haul, challenge yourself to one to two new, colorful swaps.”

Alyssa practices at the Employee Clinic on the third floor of the Cottonwood Medical Clinic on the TOSH campus at 181 East Medical Tower Drive in Murray, Utah. Virtual appointments are also available for caregivers living outside of the Salt Lake Valley.
