Open enrollment closes on November 16.

Open Enrollment closes on Wednesday, November 16, at 11:59 p.m. MT, which means you only have seven more days to choose your benefits for 2023. Open Enrollment is the only time of year you’re allowed to make changes to benefits and add or remove dependents — unless you have a qualifying life event like marriage or the birth of a child.

AskHR has received questions from caregivers about the Medical Premium Assistance program. This is a new program for 2023 and it offers reduced medical premiums to caregivers. Through the Medical Premium Assistance program, regular, full-time caregivers can receive a 75% medical premium reduction for an Intermountain-sponsored medical plan of their choice, based on the following household income and family size:

Family Size

Annual Household Income

One: You only

$55,000 or less

Two or more: You plus one or more dependents living in your household

$75,000 or less

Here’s an example of how the program works: A caregiver chooses to enroll in a HealthSave: Share plan for their family’s medical coverage. The premium for 2023 for a family on this plan is $121.87 per pay period. The caregiver’s estimated annual household income for 2023 is $58,000 a year, so they apply for the Medical Premium Assistance program and are approved. This means their premium would only be $30.47 per pay period — putting money back in the caregiver’s paycheck.

The Medical Premium Assistance program application will go live in Workday after the last day of open enrollment, on November 17. Any caregiver who applies for and meets both the eligibility and annual household income criteria ($55K/$75K) will be automatically approved for the program. This document explains how to estimate your annual household income for 2023 to determine if you’re eligible for the program. More information, like FAQs and the official guidelines, can be found on the Medical Premium Assistance website in both English and Spanish.

Here are other reminders to help you have a successful Open Enrollment:

  • Open Enrollment is completed in Workday for Canyons and Desert Region caregivers. Look for the “Open Enrollment Change: <Caregiver Name> on 01/01/2023” task in your Workday inbox. Workday is available on desktop computers or mobile devices. If you access Workday outside of the Intermountain firewall, you’ll need to sign in using PingID. For Peaks Region caregivers, Open Enrollment is completed in Oracle.
  • You’re allowed to use a work computer or work tablet to complete Open Enrollment. This should not interfere with patient or general work responsibilities.
  • The Virtual Benefits Fair is still ongoing. The Virtual Benefits Fair runs through the end of Open Enrollment and includes resources like the benefit guides, premium worksheets, videos, tips, tricks, and FAQs. This experience allows you to review all the benefit options at your convenience. The site is available on all devices 24/7 by visiting intermountainvirtualevents.com. Log in by entering your last name and employee ID number. Spouses, partners, and dependents can also access the fair using the same log-in information.
  • Choosing benefits can be overwhelming. Decision Paths helps you navigate benefits decisions to ensure your choices fit your needs and budget by providing personalized benefits recommendations for medical, dental, vision, voluntary benefits, and life and disability. There’s no login required.

If you don’t participate in Open Enrollment, most benefits elections will automatically carry over into 2023, with the exception of Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA) elections. In Nevada, caregivers currently enrolled in the Sierra Health High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) must also make a new medical plan election, as that plan will no longer be available in 2023.
