About us

Our team is here to help and support you and your child by finding out more about their health concerns and giving the right treatment.

When it comes to problems with the muscles and nerves, we offer a special program for children and young adults who have neuromuscular disorders. We have a big team of 270 specialists who work closely with brain and spinal care, and every year, we help over 11,000 children.

What sets us apart

Learn more about our pediatric neuromuscular program and what we can offer.

Our neuromuscular program brings specialized doctors together, in one place, for your child's care. This saves you time, money, and makes your care safer because everyone can connect and provide the best care available. Our team includes experts in neurology, physical therapy, genetic counseling, lung care, nutrition, speech therapy, psychology, social work, and more. We also work with heart specialists, hormone specialists, and all pediatric services.

Spinraza was approved by the FDA in 2016 for the treatment of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) in adult and pediatric patients. We currently offer Spinraza treatment for all types of SMA.

Utah was the first state to implement permanent statewide newborn screening for Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Any baby born after January 29, 2018 will have been screened for Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

Our partners at the University of Utah Program for Inherited Neuromuscular Diseases (UPIN) are committed to improving the lives of children with neuromuscular disorders through collaborative care and research. We participate in many studies involved in the development of treatment for neuromuscular disorders. As appropriate, we encourage involvement in these studies to improve the quality of life for themselves and others.
