Personal Bio & Interests
I was born in Salt Lake City and raised in Denver. I graduated from BYU and then went on to obtain a medical degree at Northwestern University in Chicago. My OB/GYN residency was at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, the nation's first hospital which was founded by Benjamin Franklin in 1751. After practicing in Colorado for several years, I returned to Utah to practice in Utah County. I enjoy skiing, hiking, and music. I was a member of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square from 2016 to 2023. My wife and I have one daughter, four sons and eight grandchildren. I am an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the University of Utah School of Medicine and an Associate Clinical Professor at Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine. I have a passion for communicating well and providing excellent medical and surgical care for my patients. My special interest is in the area of Robotic Surgery and Minimally Invasive Surgery including such procedures as robotic assisted Da Vinci hysterectomy, surgery to correct urinary incontinence and restore bladder control, and endometrial ablation to treat heavy periods. Since my robotics training in 2007, I have performed over 1500 robotic assisted surgeries resulting in greatly reduced postoperative pain and a quicker recovery for my patients. I also care for patients with pelvic support problems, menopause issues, abnormal Pap smears, pelvic pain, and abnormal uterine bleeding. I do annual well woman exams and assist patients with infertility problems. I am honored to mentor medical students from Rocky Vista University and OB/GYN residents from the University of Utah. I am also grateful for the opportunity I have had to teach internationally during short-term medical missions in Guyana, Honduras, Nepal, Mali, Morocco, Timor-Leste, Madagascar, twice in Togo, 3 times in the Republic of the Congo-Brazzaville, and 4 times in the Democratic Republic of the Congo-Kinshasa.
