LDS Hospital Ranks as One of the Best Hospitals in America for Nurses

Salt Lake City, UT (2/4/2009) – Intermountain Healthcare’s LDS Hospital is ranked as one of the best hospitals in the nation to work for by Nursing Professionals magazine.

The publication, which is directed at student nurses, identifies its “2009 Top 100 Hospitals to Work For” in its upcoming spring edition. The rankings are based on a survey of 25,000 randomly selected hospital nurses across the country who were asked to rate their job satisfaction, how strong the voice of nursing is throughout their facility, what kind of work flexibility is offered, and how the hospital manages personal training and development.

LDS Hospital is the only Utah hospital to make the list. LDS Hospital is ranked among some of the nation’s top medical institutions, including Johns Hopkins, Cedars-Sinai, Brigham and Women’s Hospital of Boston, and the Mayo Clinic. Of the nation’s 5,708 hospitals, only 100 made the list.

Greater awareness of the crucial role of nurses and the expanded opportunities they have today in patient care, research and training will be very helpful in encouraging more people to enter this profession, according to Donna Anderson, senior vice president of marketing & business development for Nursing Professionals.

For the past five years, LDS Hospital has also been named one of America’s best hospitals, by US News & World Report’s annual ranking of the nation’s top healthcare centers.
