American College of Radiology Accreditation Received

Utah Valley Regional Medical Center has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in CT services as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology.

“We’re pleased to be one of a group of hospitals in the state with accreditation by the American College of Radiology,” said Chad Jasperson, Utah Valley Regional’s Imaging manager. “We have long been committed to continually implementing practices to improve our quality of care, so receiving the accreditation helps affirm our qualifications and service to our patients.” 

The ACR, headquartered in Reston, Va., awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of the practice. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.  At Utah Valley Regional, surveyors assessed the qualifications of the hospital’s personnel and the adequacy of the facility’s CT equipment. The surveyors reported their findings to the ACR’s accrediting committee, which subsequently provided the hospital with a comprehensive report and certificate of accreditation. 

Utah Valley Regional, which performed more than 30,500 CT scans in 2008, is the only facility in Utah County to be accredited by the ACR for CT services. CT (computed tomography) is a medical imaging diagnostic method used to generate three-dimensional images of the inside of a patient’s body. Physicians use the tool to diagnose a wide spectrum of conditions in patients.
