InstaCare opens in Provo

Intermountain Provo InstaCare is now open on the campus of Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
The Provo InstaCare, which is the fifth in Utah County, is located on the first floor of the hospital’s Northwest Plaza, at the corner of 1230 North and 500 West. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Saturday.

An InstaCare provides walk-in treatment for patients with urgent medical needs such as lacerations, broken bones, fevers and respiratory infections. It is designed for people to use when they cannot be seen in a timely manner by their primary care physician, but they do not require the resources of an emergency room. Patients seen at an InstaCare are referred back to their primary care physician for follow-up treatment and continued care.

“We have had many requests for an InstaCare in the Provo area. Provo is the largest city in our service area, yet residents have had to travel to Springville or north Orem for urgent care needs. This new site meets a well identified community need,” said Brady Giles, region operations director for Intermountain’s Medical Group.

Residents in the Provo area have long asked for closer urgent care services. InstaCare is a much more affordable alternative for urgent care than is an emergency room visit. Copays at InstaCare average $35 versus $150 in an ER and wait times are typically much shorter than in an ER.
