Intermountain Honors Volunteer Trustee

Carmen Pingree, a volunteer member of the Board of Trustees for Intermountain Healthcare, has been named the recipient of the organization’s Trustee of Excellence Award for 2009.

Pingree was selected from a group of about 450 local community residents who volunteer their time without pay to serve as trustees on governing boards of various Intermountain hospitals and services. These boards provide direction to meet community needs, review actions, and give guidance to Intermountain Healthcare’s management.

Pingree served on the Governing Board of Primary Children’s Medical Center from 2001 until January of this year, most recently as chair. She has been a member of Intermountain Healthcare’s Board of Trustees since 2006. In addition to volunteering her time with Intermountain, she has also served on the Governor’s Council on People With Disabilities, The Children’s Justice Center, and the University of Utah Alumni Association. She has been especially involved as an advocate for people with autism, and the Carmen B. Pingree School for Children with Autism in Salt Lake City is named for her.
