Prostate Cancer Support Group

MURRAY, UT (6/26/2009) – Man to Man, a free prostate cancer education and support group program for men with prostate cancer and their families is now being offered at Intermountain Medical Center.

The Man to Man support group, will be held the first Wednesday of every month starting July 1, at 7 p.m. in the second floor conference room in the Jon and Karen Huntsman Cancer Center at Intermountain Medical Center, 5121 S. Cottonwood Street, Murray.

The support group, which is co-sponsored by Intermountain Healthcare and the American Cancer Society, is a forum for men and their loved ones to learn more about prostate cancer and the various treatment options available. Through interactive presentations and materials, they’re given helpful tools to learn and cope with prostate cancer.

Specialists in various fields will share information on medical topics and quality of life issues such as living with prostate cancer, radiation as a treatment option, understanding your medications, plus much more.

A comfortable and confidential meeting environment allows men and their families to discuss challenges and solutions openly and share solutions to common problems. No personal medical advice is offered during the sessions.

“We’re excited to have the Man to Man support group at Intermountain Medical Center,” says Jay Bishoff, MD, urologist and medical director of the Intermountain Urological Institute at Intermountain Medical Center. “Those who participate in the support group receive a lot of strength from meeting regularly with one another. They build a significant bond by meeting with others who are going through similar experiences.”
