American Fork Hospital Named One of the Nation's Top 100 Hospitals

American Fork Hospital has been named one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitals® this week by Thomson Reuters, a leading provider of information and solutions to improve the cost and quality of healthcare.
The award recognizes hospitals that have achieved excellence in clinical outcomes, patient safety, patient satisfaction, financial performance and operational efficiency. This is the fifth time American Fork Hospital has been recognized with this honor.

“We’re honored to have been recognized this week alongside some of the country’s best hospitals,” said Michael Olson, American Fork Hospital’s administrator and CEO. “Our staff and physicians dedicate themselves every day to providing high quality care. This recognition is a direct result of their commitment to patients in our community.”

An Intermountain Healthcare facility, American Fork Hospital operates as an acute care medical facility with 89 licensed beds and a staff of nearly 700. Its medical staff is comprised of approximately 180 physicians and physicians’ assistants.

The nationwide winners were identified through an in-depth analysis, the Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals®: National Benchmarks study. The study evaluated 2,926 short-term, acute care, non-federal hospitals in 10 areas: mortality, medical complications, patient safety, average length of stay, expenses, profitability, patient satisfaction, adherence to clinical standards of care and post-discharge mortality and readmission rates for acute myocardial infarction, heart failure and pneumonia.

Two other Utah hospitals were named to the list, Intermountain’s McKay-Dee Hospital Center in Ogden and Intermountain’s Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George. The winning hospitals were announced in the March 29 edition of Modern Healthcare magazine.

“The 100 Top Hospitals winners raised the bar again this year, delivering a higher level of reliable care and greater value for their communities,” said Jean Chenoweth, senior vice president for performance improvement and 100 Top Hospitals programs at Thomson Reuters.
