Dr. Marc Johnson Receives 2009 Extraordinary Service Award

Dr. Marc Johnson, a family medicine provider at the Layton Clinic, was recently honored with an Extraordinary Service Award for 2009. He was selected to receive the award by the Medical Group Administrative Council, which gives the award each year to a Medical Group physician or employee who has given exceptional service to their community.

Dr. Johnson earned the Extraordinary Service Award by providing selfless and attentive healthcare, both in Utah and abroad. He has consistently shown a willingness to go the extra mile for patients at the Layton Clinic, regardless of whether they are insured. In February, Dr. Johnson made his second humanitarian trip to Haiti with a group of Intermountain doctors. He has also collected a large amount of data on iron deficiency anemia in communities that suffer from poor nutrition. This data will help him collaborate with other medical professionals to improve the standard of living for those who lack sufficient iron in their diets.

In recognition of Dr. Johnson's achievements, Intermountain Medical Group is donating $500 to the Kwa Watoto School in Nairobi, Kenya.
