Make it a Safe Kids Summer Health and Safety Fair

The Wasatch Safe Kids Coalition is hosting a free community health fair on Saturday, May 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Wasatch County Event Center which is location at 415 South Southfield Road in Heber.

Everyone is invited to come and learn about being more healthy, have fun together and get ready to Make it a Safe Kids Summer.

Here’s a glance of what you can do at the health fair:

  • The Sheriff’s Department will be offering free finger print identification kits, and fingerprinting for all children. They will also have the law enforcement dogs, SWAT and the Search and Rescue team.
  • Have your car seat checked. Certified representatives from Wasatch County Health Department and the Sheriff’s Office will be providing car seat education and safety as well as low-cost car seats.
  • Take part in interactive games with Andy the Ambulance, the mobile fire safety unit, helmet safety, a bike rodeo, water and pool safety, scoliosis screenings and postural changes.
  • Check out a Life Flight helicopter or a fire truck and more. One of Intermountain Healthcare’s Life Flight medical transport helicopters will be on hand at the fair. Also, a representative from Heber City’s police and fire departments will provide safety information and a number of police; sheriff and fire vehicles will be on display.

In conjunction with the health fair, kids will have the opportunity to run the final 1.2 miles of the Kid’s Mile-by-Mile Marathon. This race is free for grades pre-K through 6th grades. If parents would like to run the race with their children, there is a $10 entry fee.

Each child that participates on Saturday, May 22, will receive a runner shirt and a finisher medal. Pre-registration is encouraged for an accurate count. There will also be additional adults running with each grade level for help with supervision and safety on the course.

Runners can still enter race day, but early registration guarantees that your T-shirt will be available on race day.

Race times will vary according to grade level:

Pre-K, K & 1st grades: Registration 9:30, Race 10 a.m.
2nd & 3rd grades: Registration 10:15, Race 10:45 a.m.
4th, 5th & 6th grades: Registration 11, Race 11:30 a.m.
