One of Nursing’s Best, Right Here in Park City

PARK CITY, UT (5/3/2010) — Intermountain Healthcare announced today its 2010 Nurses of Excellence, and Park City Medical Center’s Julie Howells made this elite list. Howells works as an operating room nurse and was one of the few nurses selected out of Intermountain’s over 7,000 nurses.

The hospital’s nurse administrator, Dan Davis, who oversees the nursing department, says Howells has been an integral part of the surgical team’s success. “Julie consistently role models Intermountain’s core values and healing commitments. She demonstrates a positive attitude with a focus on providing excellent care to her patients, while facilitating a work environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration and professionalism.”

Right out of high school, Julie started her medical career as a surgical technologist because her dad, who was a surgeon, wanted his daughter to work in his office someday. She got hooked and later went to nursing school to further her education and has worked as an operating room nurse for over 20 years.

“I am honored to be recognized with this award. I truly love nursing and giving my patients the best care possible. And I’m so proud to be able to practice with an organization as committed to quality patient care as Intermountain Healthcare,” Howells said.

“Julie’s patients are the beneficiaries of clinical competency paired with respect, caring and compassion. She ensures a healing experience for every patient entrusted to her care,” notes Jaime Peterson, surgical services manager at Park City Medical Center.

Howells will be honored at a luncheon ceremony May 26th. In her free time she enjoys running, playing soccer, scrapbooking and spending time with her family.
