Introducing Alexander L. Ramirez, MD

We are pleased to introduce Dr. Alexander Ramirez, a surgeon providing services related to the Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose, and Throat) and Facial Plastic Surgery. Dr. Ramirez completed his undergraduate degree with honors from Stanford University and then earned his medical degree with honors from the University of California at San Francisco. He did an Internal Medicine residency at Stanford University and then returned to the University of California at San Francisco for his General Surgery internship, specialty training in Otolaryngology--Head & Neck Surgery, and a sub-specialty fellowship in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Ramirez was on faculty at the University of California at San Francisco, private practice in Monterey, California, and prior to being recruited to Utah, was chief of the Department of Otolaryngology at Moanalua Medical Center in Honolulu, HI.

The recipient of many honors, grants, and awards, Dr. Ramirez was awarded Recognition for Outstanding Patient Care at both the University of California at San Francisco and Stanford University. He has produced a large number of articles and book chapters and has given numerous presentations. Dr. Ramirez’s areas of interest and expertise include minimally invasive endocrine surgery (thyroid and parathyoid), endoscopic sinus surgery, obstructive sleep apnea surgery, reconstruction of facial skin cancer defects, nasal surgery such as rhinoplasty and septoplasty, and cosmetic surgeries of the face and neck.

Dr. Ramirez is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology--Head & Neck Surgery and the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.

Conversational in Spanish, Dr. Ramirez enjoys playing acoustic guitar and endurance sports, such as biking, running, and swimming. He and his wife, Dr. Lori K. Ramirez, a dermatologist, have two daughters.

Dr. Ramirez, an ENT (ear, nose, throat) physician, is now accepting appointments at Layton Clinic and McKay-Dee ENT Clinic.
