Introducing Nancy E. Gundersen, MD

The Utah Heart Clinic recently welcomed Dr. Nancy Gundersen, who practices internal medicine and provides cardiovascular hospitalist services at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.

Dr. Gundersen completed her medical degree at the University of Utah, where she earned honors in many clinical and pre-clinical courses. During medical school, she earned a Joseph D. Crockett Memorial Scholarship and the 2004 Mead Johnson Travel Award from the Western Society for Pediatric Research. Dr. Gundersen volunteered as a medicine tutor, was a student manager at the Fourth Street Homeless Clinic, and taught on HIV/AIDS with the Salt Lake School District.

Dr. Gundersen completed the Internal Medicine Residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Since 2009, she has practiced as a hospitalist at Jordan Valley Medical Center in West Jordan. Dr. Gundersen has conducted research on topics including pulmonary vascular growth in chick embryos, eosinophilic esophagitis and the risk of eosphageal rupture with endoscopic procedures, and changes in cardiac function following gastric bypass surgery. Board certified, she belongs to the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association.
