Healthcare's Top 25 Women Leaders

Intermountain Healthcare's Linda C. Leckman, MD, has been named one of Modern Healthcare magazine's Top 25 Women in Healthcare. The recognition is the magazine's fourth biennial listing, which was determined by an editorial review board of senior editors at Modern Healthcare who reviewed 324 nominations from across the nation.

Dr. Leckman is vice president of Intermountain Healthcare and CEO of Intermountain Medical Group, positions she has held since 1996. Previously, she was in private practice as a general surgeon for 14 years. She served on the Physicians Licensing Board for the State of Utah for nine years and she is a member of the Board of Trustees of Intermountain Healthcare and the Board of Directors of the American Medical Group Association.

As CEO of Intermountain Medical Group, Dr. Leckman oversees more than 4,000 employees, including 960 clinicians, at more than 150 clinics. She has led the system's switch to electronic health records and its integration of mental health care into primary care.

Modern Healthcare accepted nominations from all sectors of the industry, including hospitals, health systems, physician organizations, insurance, government, suppliers, professional organizations, and patients' rights groups.

Candidates were judged on the following five criteria:

1. Successfully served as a leader or managed an organization or company.
2. Shown the ability or power to effect change in the healthcare industry.
3. Demonstrated a willingness to share expertise with others in the field.
4. Served as a role model or mentor to other female healthcare executives.
5. Assumed a leadership position in the industry outside of the candidate's own organization or company.
