Runners in dash for organ donation in Ogden and Salt Lake CityThe 15th annual "Dash for Donation" — a 5k run/2k walk that celebrates organ, eye, and tissue donation and transplantation — is Saturday, August 13, at 8 a.m. at Sugarhouse Park in Salt Lake City and Weber State University in Ogden.

Everyone's invited, including people in strollers, wheelchairs, and runners/walkers of all ages and abilities. So, start talking to people you can enter with or people you can invite to join your team!

The Purpose of the Event

"Dash for Donation" is held to raise money to support organ donation, raise awareness of the need for more donors, and honor those who get involved, especially donors and their families.

"Last year we began to change the emphasis from a competitive run to a way to honor the people whose lives have been affected by donation," says Dixie Madsen of Intermountain Donor Services. "We added a 2K walk to the traditional 5K run we did in the past. We had several groups sign up as teams to honor a loved one who was a donor or celebrate the life of someone who has received a transplant. We had several organizations sponsor teams as well."

Intermountain Healthcare is a co-sponsor of the event.
