Breast Cancer Survivor Tribute Event with Sheri Dew

MURRAY – Breast cancer survivors and their families are invited to a special breakfast event at the Breast Care Center at Intermountain Medical Center on Friday, Sept. 30, at 8:30 am, to celebrate women and raise awareness about breast cancer with Sheri Dew, author, publisher and chief executive officer of Deseret Book Company.

"A Tribute to Breast Cancer Survivors: Breakfast with Sheri Dew" is a kickoff to breast cancer awareness month in October. Dew, best known as an inspirational writer and author, was diagnosed with breast cancer nearly six years ago. She will share her inspiring story about overcoming breast cancer, and how the disease has affected her own family, including her sister and her mother, both of whom battled breast cancer.

Dew will be joined at the event by breast care experts from the Intermountain Medical Center Breast Care Center, who will talk about advances in breast cancer detection and the importance of early detection and screening mammography.

The Murray High School football team, which plays later that evening, will be at the event to support breast cancer survivors. They will wear pink jerseys in honor of breast cancer awareness month, and will present roses to all breast cancer survivors who attend the event that morning.

This year, nearly 200,000 women, including about 1,000 women in Utah, will be diagnosed with breast cancer, according to the American Cancer Society. Thanks to improvements in treatment and early detection, millions of women now survive breast cancer. Their lives, along with those who have passed away due to breast cancer, will be celebrated at the event. Space is limited. To reserve a seat, please call 801-507-3800.
