Caroline P. Haakenson, MD

Dr. Caroline Haakenson, an OB/GYN doctor, has joined the Salt Lake Clinic. Dr. Haakenson completed her internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Utah Hospital and Clinics. She earned her medical degree at Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minnesota.

During that time, she received the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology John Gibbons Medical Student Award and Mayo Medical School’s Dean's Award. In residency, her original research about the effects of prescription narcotics in pregnancy earned her second place in the OB/GYN resident research competition.

Dr. Haakenson has special interests in primary care, international health, and clinical research. She has done medical research and service in Zimbabwe and Thailand and published original articles about patient preparation for mammography and the safety of sentinel node biopsies for pregnant women with breast cancer.

Dr. Haakenson is a junior fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a member of the Utah Medical Association and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. She enjoys running, golf, tennis and keeping up with her two young boys.
