Earl Downey, MD

Dr. Earl Downey, a highly-experienced pediatric surgeon, has joined Rock Canyon Pediatric Specialists.

Dr. Downey has served in many influential positions: medical director of the Pediatric Surgery Program at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center; medical director of the Children’s Surgical Unit at Primary Children’s Medical Center; and medical director of the Stoma and Wound Clinic and Service in Primary Children’s Hospital.

Licensed and board-certified in pediatric surgery, Dr. Downey also has significant experience as an academic educator. He has taught at the University of California Irvine School of Medicine and the University of Utah School of Medicine. He enjoys teaching surgery and pediatric surgery in clinical and classroom settings.

For his own education, Dr. Downey completed a pediatric surgery-focused fellowship with the University of Southern California’s Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Prior to that, Dr. Downey participated in a general surgery residency and internship at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, Calif. He earned his medical degree at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago.
