Lilly Diabetes Journey Award

November is National Diabetes Awareness month. Diabetes affects nearly 26 million people in the United States and it is estimated that another 79 million people have pre-diabetes.

In honor of Diabetes Awareness Month, Intermountain’s Cottonwood Endocrine and Diabetes Center will honor patients who have had insulin dependent diabetes for at least 25 years.

We have partnered with Eli Lilly and Company and plan to present them with the "Lilly Diabetes Journey Award". The Lilly Diabetes Journey Awards program recognizes diabetes patients who have successfully managed their disease with the help of insulin for 25, 50, or 75 years or more. These individuals serve as an inspiration to all people affected by diabetes, for learning how to manage their disease and adapting to the ever-changing technology of diabetes care throughout their diabetes journey.

All of the staff members at the Cottonwood Endocrine and Diabetes Center are committed to providing our patients with the best diabetes management and education services available. Our providers include endocrinologists Dr. Paul Miner and Dr. Mahtab Sohrevardi and two mid-level providers, Gayla Gilchrist, PA-C and Amy Glenn, DNP. We also have three registered nurse diabetes educators and three dietitian diabetes educators as well as several support staff members.

Our celebration program will be held on Monday, November 14, 2011 at 7 pm at Intermountain Medical Center in the Doty Education Center located at 5121 South Cottonwood Street in Murray, Utah. We invite anyone who is interested in participating in this celebration to join us for this fun-filled and exciting evening.
