Utah surgeon and leader named an officer of the national AMGA

The American Medical Group Association (AMGA) announced new officers of its Board of Directors, to begin their tenure in January 2012. Linda Leckman, MD, vice president of Intermountain Healthcare and CEO of Intermountain Medical Group, was named the organization's treasurer. The Board of Directors represents the leadership of some of AMGA's most prominent member medical groups, including the Mayo Clinic, Sutter Medical Group, Henry Ford Health System, Scripps Clinic, and Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Leckman has been with Intermountain Healthcare since 1996. As chief executive officer of the Intermountain Medical Group, she is responsible for clinical practices of about 850 employed primary and secondary care physicians, including approximately 2,950 support staff. Other services include pharmacies, occupational medicine, and urgent care clinics. Dr. Leckman is also responsible for the development of system-wide programs of "best practice" in regard to community-based clinical care delivery in primary care, behavioral health, and oncology. Prior to joining Intermountain Healthcare, Dr. Leckman was a general surgeon in private practice at Alta View and Cottonwood hospitals in Utah. Dr. Leckman received a BA in history from the Texas Christian University and her MD from the University of New Mexico.
