Dr. Joey T. Merrill

The Bountiful Clinic introduces Dr. Joseph Merrill, a Salt Lake City-based gastroenterologist (GI doctor) seeing patients periodically at our clinic. 

Dr. Merrill received his medical degree from Oregon Health and Science University. He completed an internal medicine internship and residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, a gastroenterology fellowship at Washington University in Saint Louis, and a fourth year interventional gastroenterology fellowship in Medical College of Wisconsin’s Division of Gastroenterology.

Dr. Merrill joins Intermountain Medical Group after serving as a doctor at the Milwaukee Veterans Administration Hospital and as an instructor of medicine at Medical College of Wisconsin’s Division of Gastroenterology.

Board-certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine, Dr. Merrill is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. 

Dr. Merrill has served as an in internship instructor at Princess Marina Hospital in Gaborone, Botswana, in 2007; and he co-authored Washington University’s gastroenterology fellowship curriculum. Valuing education, Dr. Merrill has been published in a variety of peer-reviews, abstracts and books, and has participated as a guest lecturer, course instructor and researcher.
