Nicholas James Paulk, MD

Dr. Nicholas Paulk has joined the general surgery team at Salt Lake City’s Avenues Specialty Clinic. 

Dr. Paulk earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He completed his medical degree at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, where he was elected to the student council and co-chaired the Surgery Interest Group. Dr. Paulk fulfilled a general surgery residency at Exempla St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado.

Board certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Paulk is particularly adept at laparoscopic surgery and enjoys staying current on the newest techniques and procedures. He has conducted research on topics including: repair of ventral hernias, stomal cancer double flap reconstruction, and mandibular reconstruction.

Dr. Paulk is fluent in Italian. His volunteer work has included volunteering at the Bennion Center at the University of Utah and working with the American Cancer Society to create a Cancer Resource Center in Salt Lake City. Dr. Paulk is politically involved and is keenly interested in healthcare reform.
