Second graders brighten holidays at Logan Regional Hospital Children's Unit

MEDIA ADVISORY

WHAT: Second graders brighten the holidays for children in the hospital. The Christmas season is a hard time for a child to face a hospital stay. Mrs. McMillan’s second grade class at North Park Elementary School is delivering a very special Christmas tree Tuesday to the Logan Regional Hospital Children’s Unit (Pediatrics Unit). Head Room Parent Mic Sampson and other room parents are working with Mrs. McMillan and the children on the project.

“The children are loading the tree with story books, coloring books, crayons, activities sets, games and bright decorations,” said Sampson. “The students wanted to earn everything as a class that they put on the tree – by following directions in class, returning their homework, obeying class rules, being respectful, and helping others.”

WHERE: Logan Regional Hospital’s Children’s Unit
500 East 1400 North
Logan, UT 84341

WHY: “Last spring my son Laker, who is in Mrs. McMillan’s class this year, was hospitalized with viral spinal meningitis,” said Sampson. “He missed an entire month of school. The kids on his bus and in his class were so concerned. They made card after card, stopped by daily to look after him, had their parents call to check in on him. They were so cute and caring. I couldn't believe their kindness and concern. The kids in Mrs. McMillan’s class want to share this same spirit of love and caring to children at Logan Regional Hospital this Christmas.”

WHO: Approximately 30 children, Mrs. McMillan, and room parents will come by bus to deliver their special tree and gifts to Logan Regional Hospital’s Children’s Unit.
