Learn how to meet your 2012 exercise and nutrition goals

A free workshop on how to meet your 2012 exercise and nutrition goals will be held on Wednesday, January 18, at 6:30 p.m. in classroom B at Alta View Hospital, which is located at 9660 South 1300 East in Sandy.

Lindsay Park, a registered dietitian at Alta View, will share tips to help you set and meet healthy, nutritious goals during the new year. “Being healthy can be a challenge when it’s cold outside and the days are shorter,” she says. “But learning what you can do to exercise regularly and eat nutritious meals during the winter can help you be healthy all year long.”

Some of the tips she’ll cover during the workshop:

  • How to eat the right amount of food.
  • Why skipping meals can hurt you, your immune system, and your metabolism.
  • The effect of regular exercise on your metabolism, your caloric intake, your total cholesterol, your good cholesterol (HDL) level, and your risk of heart disease.
  • How exercise helps you manage stress and reduce your blood pressure.

There’s no need to RSVP, but if you have questions or want more information about the workshop, call 801-501-2795. More information about the class — and about other classes Alta View offers — is available at www.altaviewhospital.org.
